Bromsgrove Rovers slipped to their fourth consecutive defeat at the hands of visitors Arlesey Town at The Victoria Ground.
Debutant Luke Benbow almost opened the scoring in the first minute, when his first time shot beat Ian Browne but cannoned back off the inside of the right hand post.
Arlesey opened the scoring in the 7th minute; Chris Marsh put in a left wing cross to the far post where Glenn Garner headed downwards giving Karl Lewis no chance in goal.
Benbow grabbed an opportunist goal anticipating a poor defensive clearance raced past C Kavanagh to slot the ball past the advancing Browne from the edge of the area.
The rest of the half became embroiled into a dour struggle in midfield as both teams fought to take the game by the scruff of the neck and create chances.
Two minutes into the second half Rovers fell behind Wayne O’Sullivan’s right wing cross was met by Kavanagh, his effort hit the post and rebounded to Nathan Frater who smashed the ball home past Lewis from close range.
In the 53rd minute Lewis produced a double save to stop Arlesey increasing their advantage. Garner was denied by the goalkeeper low to his right and then got across goal to save with his legs to deny Scott Sinclair at the foot of the left hand post.
O’Sullivan’s 75th minute in-swinging corner was missed by everyone as it flew across the face of goal. Substitute Alex Igori produced a vital block on Marsh on the edge of the area; the ball fell for Frater who flashed an effort past the right hand post after 82 minutes.
The game entered time added on by the match official saw Samuel Wills fire an effort across goal and past the left hand post. Two minutes later Rovers almost snatched a dramatic equalizer, Chris Godwin’s effort was deflected by Ross Hanley up over Browne, who could only stand and watch the ball bounce off the crossbar and out to safety leaving Arlesey to claim maximum points.
