A 91st minute strike by Marlon Walters earned battling Bromsgrove Rovers a valuable point in their bid to pull away from the bottom of the table against Lowly Bedworth United at The Victoria Ground. Rovers who included new signings Nathaniel Caines and Pheon Jolly from Birmingham City still fell behind after a poor start to a Levi Ramsey header.
The games survived a late snow flurry and with only 119 hardy souls braving the bitter cold saw Bedworth take the lead in the 2nd minute with their first attack of the game. Goalkeeper Karl Lewis pulled off a superb save turning the ball over the angle of post and bar to deny Jai Stanley. From the resulting corner Rovers failed to pick up Ramsey in the area and he headed home with ease to give United the early advantage. Ramsey weaved his way through on goal i8n the 8th minute but again Lewis was on hand to save the initial shot and Rapinder Gill was on hand to complete the clearance.
Nathaniel Waite wasted a golden chance in the 10th minute when he failed to get any purchase on his header from Walter's fabulous right wing cross. Cameron Jones thought he had scored after his sweetly struck effort in the 12th minute beat Bedworth's Andrew Kemp all ends up but saw his effort cannon back off the left hand upright straight back into Kemp's arms.
Rovers continued to press for the equalizer and in the 28th minute Luke Darby's speculative long range effort almost caught Kemp out as it dipped late but cleared the crossbar. Bedworth's Lee Greenway saw his effort fly a yard wide from the edge of the area after 36 minutes. Three minutes before the break Jordan Street saw his effort just clear the Bedworth crossbar after the visitors made a hash of clearing their lines.
Waite had a shot on the turn well saved by Kemp low to his left and the keeper gathered at the second attempt in the 52nd minute. Substitute Omar Spence was put through on goal after good work by Danny Campbell but a timely saving tackle by Marcel Simpson stopped the striker as he was about to pull the trigger on 71 minutes. Ramsey again got through on goal but screwed his effort horribly wide as Lewis raced to narrow the angle six minutes later.
Lewis superbly pulled off a double save to keep Rovers in the game. The keeper dived low to his right to keep out Ramsey's strike the ball ran invitingly to substitute Tyrone Amori, and struck the ball goal wards but somehow Lewis recovered to push the ball around the post three minutes from time.
Into time added on by the match official and Bedworth showed their defensive frailties after failing to clear their lines and Walter pounced on the edge of the area to drill the ball through a crowded penalty area past Kemp to give Rovers some just reward.
