Bromsgrove Rovers capitulated late on to Leighton Town at The Victoria Ground conceding three late second-half goals as their dismal run continues. Rovers ended the game with ten men after Cameron Jones saw red after 72 minutes.
Rovers started brightly with visiting goalkeeper Kevin Marsh pulling off excellent saves to deny Luke Findley and Danny Campbell in the 7th and 9th minutes respectively. Campbell then curled the ball just wide of goal in the 14th minute after good work by Jack Connolly.
Leighton Town took the lead against the run of play in the 40th minute after goalkeeper Karl Lewis dropped a James Hatch left wing cross and presented the ball to Wes Lewis, who made sure from close range.
The second-half was late kicking off after assistant referee Mr. S. Rolfe pulled his hamstring and a suitable replacement was found. Rovers continued to press forward but after 72 minutes Rovers were reduced to 10 men after Jones received his marching orders after saying something to the match official Mr. R. J. Earl and after that the pendulum swung in Leighton's favor.
Leighton's Hatch increased the visitors lead in the 84th minute after finding space at the far post to plant a header past Lewis from substitute Lewis Hallford's right wing cross.
As the match entered time added on by the referee, substitute Dan Walker helped himself to two more goals as Leighton started to capitalize on several defensive mistakes. His first came in the 94th minute when found un-marked on the left hand side of the area and his drive beat Lewis at his near post and just to rub salt into Rovers wounds Walker came up with a carbon copy second goal in the 96th minute to compound a heavy defeat on the Rovers.
The score line did not reflect the actual run of the game but the result was consigned to the record books.
