Zamaretto League Midlands Division Bromsgrove Rovers (0) 1 Rothwell Town (0) 0 Saturday 12th December 2009 Attendance: 242
A dramatic last minute strike from Danny Campbell gave Bromsgrove Rovers a deserved victory over Rothwell Town at The Victoria Ground. The opening exchanges were pretty even with neither side managing to create any decent chances to trouble both goalkeepers. Campbell came closest to opening the scoring in the 28th minute when his effort cannoned back off Lee Crockett's right hand upright from Danny Scheppel's cross. The visitors were reduced to ten men three minutes before the interval when Sam Maude was dismissed for a wild lunge on Paul Lloyd. The second-half was one way traffic as Bromsgrove laid siege to the Rothwell goal as Rovers made their man advantage count in their favour as the visitors started to wilt under the pressure. Gavin Winsper's effort bounced off the crossbar in the 62nd minute and three minutes later Crockett pulled off a fine save to reach Jordan Street's swerving effort. Just when it appeared the pressure would be to no avail as the game entered the final seconds. Rothwell failed to clear Winsper's long throw, the ball fell nicely to Campbell who hit a sweet volley from the edge of the area that left Crockett standing to claim a dramatic victory for the Green's.
