Bromsgrove Rovers and Arlesey Town fought out a scrappy scoreless draw at The Chateau Roux Stadium. Arlesey were reduced in numbers after 53 minutes, when front man Chris Marsh received his marching orders for a kick out at Cameron Jones which was spotted by referee Tim Donnallan.
In the first ten minutes Rovers fashioned a couple of chances but Mark Owen’s effort cleared the crossbar and Kevin Banner’s shot flashed across the face of goal just beating Martyn Patching’s left hand post. Banner then saw his effort bounce awkwardly in front of Patching but the keeper gathered at the second attempt after 14 minutes.
Arlesey responded and Rovers keeper collected Stuart Sinclair’s effort in the 18th minute. Four minutes later Luke Gregson’s effort evaded Lewis but cannoned back off the left hand post, Sinclair smashed the rebound across the face of goal and wide.
Owen broke away and forced patching to turn his effort around the post
After 34 minutes. Four minutes later former Evesham team mates Danny Scheppel and Owen combined to allow Owen to force Patching into another fine save at his near post.
Moses Olalaye then forced Lewis to save his low shot bound for the bottom right hand corner three minutes from the break. Deep into time added on by the match official, Owen again was denied by Patching who turned his effort away from goal.
Into the second –half and Arlesey’s Marsh then curled an effort past Lewis only to see the shot beat the right hand post in the 50th minute. Three minutes later Marsh received his marching orders as the referee Mr Donnallan spotted the forwards intercession on Jones.
In the 64th minute Josiah Richards out jumped Patching to meet Banner’s free-kick but could not keep his header from clearing the crossbar.
The game then became scrappy with both teams being pulled up for petty fouls by the referee and play became inconsistent. In the 83rd minute quick thinking by Banner at a free-kick to find Owen free on the left but his dangerous cross was cut out by Ollie Thorne before Rovers forward could reach the ball and both sides had to settle for a point each.
